Driving lessons in High Street Kensington: what to expect
How GSM teaches learners around High Street Kensington (W8) — pickup, the roads you will practise on, and how lessons build towards your test.
GSM Driving School has taught learners across West London since 2005. High Street Kensington (W8) is one of our core areas, and it is a great place to learn: quiet residential streets sit right beside some of London's busiest roads.
Pickup
We pick you up from home in W8, including around High Street Kensington, Kensington Church Street and Earls Court Road. If you live in a neighbouring area such as South Kensington, we can agree a convenient meeting point between us — just ask when you book.
How lessons build up
- Quiet streets first. We usually start on the calmer streets behind Kensington Square, where you can learn the controls, moving off and stopping without pressure.
- Busier roads next. As your confidence grows we move on to High Street Kensington itself, then Cromwell Road.
- Complex junctions. The Earls Court one-way system is excellent practice for lane discipline, planning ahead and reading traffic.
- Test preparation. Finally we focus on the routes and manoeuvres for your chosen test centre.
Manual or automatic
You can learn in either. See our guide on choosing between manual and automatic lessons in West London.
